Paying on overseas websites

About 5 minutesFor: People buying a serverMain guide step 1: Buy a server

How to pay

Go by what the provider’s checkout page shows — look before ordering. Common options on overseas sites:

  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard…): the card must allow overseas payments;
  • PayPal: link a bank card in PayPal first;
  • Alipay (支付宝): the recommended BandwagonHost accepts it — choose it and scan to pay; for other providers, check the checkout page.

Prices are usually in US dollars, converted at the day’s rate.

Things to watch

  1. Pay only on the provider’s official site. Never pay through personal transfers or links in chat apps.
  2. For your first purchase, quarterly billing is safer; switch to yearly once you’re happy.
  3. Card declined? Usually overseas payments aren’t enabled or the bank’s risk control blocked it — a call to the bank fixes it.
  4. Keep the payment email and order number for renewals, refunds and tickets.
  5. Read the refund policy first; many providers only refund within a short period after purchase.

Don't do this

Never give your card number or PayPal password to anyone — including people offering to “pay for you” — and never to an AI.

Stuck?

Paid, but the order says pending?

Some providers review new orders manually, from minutes to hours. No change after a day? Open a ticket.

No usable payment method at checkout?

Try another provider or another payment method (for example, sign up for PayPal first).
