Before testing
- Speed tests use a lot of data: one run can be several to tens of GB — don’t test often.
- Test from where you are: test on a phone or computer with the app connected — that’s your real experience. Testing on the server itself (often several Gbps) only shows the server’s exit is fast, not what you’ll get.
- Only this proxy on: turn off other proxies and boosters.
How
- Connect the app and pick a node.
- Open fast.com and wait; click “Show more info” for latency and upload.
- Test once in the daytime and again between 8 and 11 pm to compare.
Reading the results
| Metric | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Download speed | How fast video and downloads are. A few tens of Mbps is smooth for daily use |
| Latency | From China to the US West Coast, 100–250 ms is normal — distance decides it |
| Loaded latency | If latency jumps a lot while downloading, the route is congested |
Fast by day, slow at night
Normal: routes from China abroad are most congested in the evening. BBR on the server helps a bit. If peak hours matter, choose a plan with a better route. See the Wiki: Why it is slower in the evening.
