v2rayN (alternative, desktop)

About 10 minutesFor: Desktop users who already use v2rayN (Windows, Mac, Linux)Main guide step 4: Install the apps

On a computer, Clash Verge Rev is recommended

This setup is designed around Clash Verge Rev. The Clash subscription carries a full set of routing rules: AI sites always go through your server, WeChat and other Chinese apps connect directly, the rules update daily from your own server, and the app shows this month’s traffic.

v2rayN only gets the two nodes — none of those rules — and routes with its own “bypass mainland China” preset. So: if you haven’t installed an app yet, follow step 4 and install Clash Verge Rev. Read on only if you’re already used to v2rayN, or Clash Verge won’t install on your computer.

Does it work?

Yes. Tested with the Xray core bundled in v2rayN 7.25.6: both the Reality and TLS nodes passed web access, UDP and exit-IP checks.

1. Download

Only from the official releases page: github.com/2dust/v2rayN/releases.

System File
Windows v2rayN-windows-64.zip — unzip and run v2rayN.exe
Mac (Apple silicon, M1 and later) v2rayN-macos-arm64.dmg
Mac (Intel) v2rayN-macos-64.dmg
Linux (Debian / Ubuntu) v2rayN-linux-64.deb

Tip

The Mac build is unsigned, so macOS may say it is “damaged”. After installing, run this in Terminal, then open it again:

Run in Mac Terminal
xattr -cr /Applications/v2rayN.app

2. Import the subscription

Use the subscription URL from the “Shadowrocket (iPhone)” row of your login-info file. The Clash row is for Clash-type apps and v2rayN can’t read all of it.

  1. Menu “Subscription Group” → “Subscription group settings” → “Add”.
  2. Put anything in “Remarks”, such as the server’s name; paste the subscription URL into the URL field and confirm.
  3. Menu “Subscription Group” → “Update subscriptions without proxy”. Two nodes appear: NAME-Reality and NAME-TLS.
  4. Select NAME-Reality, right-click → “Set as active”.

3. Routing, system proxy and Tun

At the bottom of the main window:

  1. “Routing”: choose V4-绕过大陆(Whitelist) (the default) — mainland China connects directly, everything abroad (including AI sites) goes through your server.
  2. “System proxy”: choose “Set system proxy”.
  3. Turn on “Enable Tun”. With the system proxy alone, the browser’s WebRTC can reveal your real IP; Tun blocks that, just like Clash Verge’s TUN mode. On Windows run v2rayN as administrator; on Mac and Linux it asks for your system password in settings the first time.

You should see

Open ip.net.coffee/claude/ in a browser and it shows your server’s IP. Then check for WebRTC leaks — your home IP must not appear.

How it differs from Clash Verge Rev

Clash Verge Rev (recommended) v2rayN
Subscription to use The Clash row The Shadowrocket (iPhone) row
Nodes Reality + TLS Reality + TLS
AI sites always via your server Yes, built into the subscription Via “bypass mainland China” — everything abroad is proxied
WeChat and Chinese apps direct Yes, matched precisely by WeChat’s network Via v2rayN’s own China list
Rule updates Daily, from your own server v2rayN downloads its own from GitHub
This month’s traffic Shown Depends on your version

Stuck?

No nodes after updating, or 'invalid subscription content'?

You probably used the Clash row. Switch to the “Shadowrocket (iPhone)” row and update again.

No node connects?

First check in settings that VLESS uses the Xray core (the default). If it still fails, import the Clash subscription into Clash Verge Rev: if that works, the problem is in v2rayN’s settings; if not, have AI health-check the server.
